Imagine spending an entire day, in the sun, surrounded by world-class cuisine, being treated to your hearts content, dining from London’s top restaurants, seeing world-class chefs on display or being able to shop for unique foodie gifts…all in one place? Well for four days in sunny June Taste of London comes to Regents Park and delivers just that! For the third year running we went along to check it out.
Our day started off with a glass of champagne in the VIP Lounge where we perused the menu of soon-to-be consumed delicious dishes available. We plotted our course, taking our masterclass into consideration and, with Crowns in hand, we then headed out to join the crowds and treat our palettes to this once a year opportunity. Taste is truly a culinary experience not worth missing. There is so much on offer and so many dishes available that one simply cannot do everything in one day.
For the first time since attending I have had the pleasure of joining one of the “masterclass” sessions. We were hosted by Nespresso and Executive Chef Andy McKenzie, from Lainston House Hotel, who treated us to a 5 course meal accompanied by a carefully chosen selection of Nespresso coffees to compliment each dish. Well thought through and thoroughly recommended we walked out definitely needing a break from cuisine and took some time to walk around visiting the remainder of the event and all the retail and exhibitor stands.
The dishes that really stood out for us on the day however where numerous! Our first stop was with newcomer The Corner Room; their starter dish of Seabass ceviche with green chilli and fennel was outstanding! Every year The Salt Yard have a stand and this year it was The Opera Tavern’s turn to impress; the Courgette flower stuffed with goats cheese and drizzled with honey is a firm favourite of mine, as is their iconic dish; the Iberica Pork and Foie Gras burger! Maze made a great impression with their Lobster and Pork Dumpling, Lemongrass and Ginger and The Hinds Head served up a winner with their Braised Ox cheek, smoked Mash and Oxtail Sauce.
