Ah Christmas... It’s that magical time of year when we look forward to the first snowfalls, the sound of bells jingling, wrapping paper and gifts, food and drink. A time for enjoying the spirit of Christmas; giving, eating, drinking and laughter, spending time with family and friends and reflecting on the year we’ve had and the year to come.
What better way to get into the festive mood that attending Taste of Christmas at the Excel Centre? As an avid Taste-goer I had booked my tickets in August and was looking forward to the event for months.
We arrived early and were greeted by the nostalgic scent of Christmas trees, only to then be dazzled by the vast array of retail stands and food on offer. If you are ever stuck for Christmas ideas then Taste is the solution to your problems! From cooking utensils, to gifts, recipes and live shows, Taste left nothing out.
Initially, I was a little disappointed with the lack of restaurants available on show this Christmas, but the amount of stands available and the vast array of products around made up for that. The highlight of my visit on Saturday was the Michel Roux Jnr masterclass, closely followed by Comptoir Gascon’s Duck Burger and then the freshly cut coconut prepared by W&D Caribbean Punches. Other enticing retailers included All Sorts Liquorice, Bath Ales, Big Boy Beanbag, Martin Millers Gin and the Bubbly Champagne Company.
Although the weather outside was frightful, inside the Excel centre it was delightful! What a wonderful way to start off the festive season and with so many retailers and ideas available my Christmas this year will not be lacking in the ideas department!
