Change and transformation is at the top of the agenda for my clients – digital, process, operational, organisational – change is easier to execute and sustain if everyone in an organisation supports the renewed direction. I have developed expertise specifically in working with clients to advise on the search for the people who lead, reinvent, enable, activate and sustain change programmes.
HR leadership is a pivotal decision for a Board, CEO or Chair of an organisation and I work closely to advise on the appointment of Chief People Officers and HR Directors. I really enjoy working closely with these successful people to help them build the most effective HR leadership team to enable their role in a business.
According to the Gallup Clifton StrengthsFinder, one of my top talents is as a “Relator” – meaning I excel at establishing meaningful and long-lasting relationships, I deliberately encourage a deepening of the relationship and this Strength enables me to work closely with clients who naturally become candidates as we work together on their hiring needs or career journey.
Prior to joining BarrettClark Executive Search as a Partner, I established a People & Change practice at another search firm developing expertise and a reputation across the professional services sector. I bring this niche and highly topical experience together with a focus on the breadth of advice in HR to the full range of our clients.
When I’m not working, I enjoy escaping the city for fresh air and dog walks and I’m a regular at Crossfit North London.
Simon founded BarrettClark Executive Search in 2001 and is the firm’s Managing Partner. Active in all areas of the business, he particularly enjoys working with clients to solve a challenging search and has advised clients and led searches at board and executive level across the breadth of the international consumer sector.
It’s not what we do at BarrettClark Executive search or how we deliver outstanding services it’s the “why” that fascinates Simon. We solve problems and discover candidates in such a way that we get a real kick when a client makes a choice. We take pride in our track record and actively cultivate a fantastic reputation. We love getting to know people and building great relationships and we have a real zest for learning.

There is no such thing as spare time for Simon because he fills it with family and friends enjoying fine dining, skiing and out on the water on boats or as crew on racing yachts. He is also a volunteer business mentor for The Prince’s Trust.
Dewi was the first person to join BarrettClark in 2002 and is the longest serving member of the team. He is Senior Partner and has been instrumental in the development of the company, what we do and how we do it. Dewi leads a team of Partners in our Hospitality, Leisure, Media and Broadcast Practices and has developed significant expertise in the organisation and delivery of executive level searches for a diverse range of public and private sector clients
One of Dewi’s top talents is as an “Arranger” or conductor – he enjoys managing all the variables, aligning and realigning them into the most productive configuration possible. He is a shining example of effective flexibility and is at his best in dynamic situations. This is the perfect combination for the work that he does, and his approach has nurtured and developed relationships he has that date back to his start in the business in 2002.
Dewi’s combined experience means that he has led a vast number of searches at all levels with recent achievements at CEO of a national, branded hospitality business, MD of a private equity backed restaurant business, UK Sales Director for a high-end international retail brand, Marketing Director for a luxury travel operator to name but a few.
Outside of BarrettClark, Dewi enjoys spending time with his young family, clocking up miles on his road bike and is dusting off his squash racket in an attempt to defy the ageing process and return to former glory!
Marc is a Senior Partner and has developed an outstanding search career in the international Consumer sector. His clients are often well recognised global brands where Marc uses his considerable experience to advise them in logistics, supply chain, operations and commercial areas of their organisation. Marc leads a team of Partners who carry out international searches for clients in Consumer Goods and Digital.
Marc recognises that change and transformation is often at the top of the agenda for his clients and has developed an expertise in Artificial Intelligence which is considered as the key to the future of the consumer industry. This expertise draws together business process, supply chain, procurement, agile, Industry of Things, Packaging, Data Science, Augmented Reality, Mixed Reality…. the list goes on and this is possibly the most exciting area of consulting advice that Marc is focused on.

Marc, speaks 5 languages, lives in London and on the rare occasion that he is not working he loves exploring the wonderful variety of dining venues and makes time to visit his family in Guatemala.
Heather is a Partner who joined the business in 2007 and has been instrumental in the transformation of the “what” and the “how” of the firm. Her experience and knowledge extend across all our systems, processes and searches and she is often able to recall talent from previous searches for our consideration. Heather leads the firm’s Practice Support and her team collaborates with practice area partners on day to day operational service to the business – this ranges from research, insight and project management of all our assignments to administration and financial services.
Heathers top talent theme is described as “Woo” which stands for winning others over. She loves the challenge of meeting new people and in her world, there are no strangers, only friends she has not met yet! This talent together with a strength in communication really enable Heather in her role. Heather has a young daughter, and, with her husband, she has recently bought a wreck of a house and her spare time often involves the project management of her builders while juggling the needs of the family!
Martin is a Partner with specialist experience in talent spotting and he works within our hospitality practice. Martin is famous for his ability to spot talent and has delivered successful searches at Board and Executive level for branded restaurant groups, pub chains, contract caterers and venues as well as other food & beverage led organisations. The searches Martin has conducted have included most positions around the Board room table, together with more specialist roles in business development, human resources and customer experience.
Martin is a “Relator” and thrives on his ability to establish long-lasting relationships with both clients and candidates, he does this through recognising common ground with individuals. Martin enjoys harnessing new relationships as it allows him to develop new skills, skills he is then keen to share with his colleagues to ensure that everyone is in the best possible position to work effectively with clients.
Before joining BarrettClark Executive Search, Martin held a variety of operational roles in the hospitality and events sector at some of the UK’s most prestigious venues. He has a keen interest in the executive search process and has supplemented his experience with formal training and CIPD accreditation.
Will has considerable experience in some of the UK’s leading leisure and luxury travel operators where he began his career. This “operational” knowledge has enabled him to provide invaluable insight and advice to clients across the breadth of leisure, hospitality and retail. Will works with Dewi Jones in the Hospitality & Leisure practice and has been engaged on a diverse range of searches from CEO’s of casual dining businesses to Chief Sales Officer for an FMCG business. Other examples include Chief Operations Officer, a Marketing Director and a Managing Director.
Will’s top talents enable him to solve problems for clients, especially where the problems is to hire someone for their business. Will sees each new challenge as an opportunity to learn and continually develop his expertise, he has a real zest for knowledge and self-improvement. Fortunately for the firm he is not satisfied with standing still and is always looking at what can be done better.
When he is not working Will is often larking around with his two children and he has completed 8 marathons – Paris, Edinburgh, London x2, Brighton x3, Bournemouth
David has a degree in German and Economics and more than 20 years’ experience in UK and European Executive Search exclusively within the Technology & IT arena. He has a strong track record and depth of knowledge that enables him to advise consumer and commercial clients on their digital, technology and IT leadership. David has successfully completed searches for CIOs, IT Directors, Programme Directors and Heads of Architecture at leading Corporates, Technology Vendors and Consultancies.
David prides himself on building excellent long-term working relationships with his clients and candidates by really understanding their requirements and then tailoring a very thorough and professional service underpinned by positive outcomes. At weekends David is kept busy by his three teenage children, wife and goldendoodle. In his sporting prime he completed the Paris, Berlin, New York and London marathons for charity. He now plays regularly at his local tennis club and is also a passionate Welsh rugby fan attending home internationals whenever possible.
Harry’s career started in five-star hotel operations followed by a number of hospitality roles in the UK and Europe. While at Compass Group he worked in the UK resourcing team on hiring key leaders into their business before taking on an operational role at their key KPMG contract.
Steph works within Practice Support as an Associate and comes from a background in research. Steph works on a wide variety of administrative or client projects and her role is diverse and very busy. It is not uncommon to find Steph preparing pitch documentation for a client and the next minute welcoming guests into our Boardroom. On of the key roles we rely on her for is the identification of talent – Steph translates a client brief into action and tracks down people that meet that brief and she is often asked to find the odd left and right field candidate!
According to Gallup 4 out of 5 of Steph’s top strengths are in the area of “relationship building”. This is fortunate because those that lead through relationship building are the essential glue that holds a team together. Without these strengths on a team the group is simply composite of individuals.
Steph lives in Clapham, London and is originally from Johannesburg. She thought the work prospects would be better in the UK so, with a British passport, she packed her bags and moved here. Now she is married and has a wonderful daughter.
Chris qualified in 1974 with BDO Stoy Hayward and left the profession to work within the Telecoms and IT industries. During his career, spanning 40 years, Chris was appointed to the boards of several leading UK Plc’s as Finance Director and Managing Director. Chris is widely recognised as having extensive experience in developing and positioning companies for acquisition or public issue.
After deciding to return to professional practise in 1999, Chris founded Stewart Hindley LLP, Chartered Certified Accountants and Registered Auditors, specialising in advising corporate clients on restructuring, acquisitions and disposals as well as providing tax planning advice. Chris sits on the Board in a non-executive capacity and provides key commercial and financial support to the firm.
Bren is the company Accountant and joined BarrettClark in 2002. She is responsible for the management accounts, invoicing and cash movement as well as handling all our payments. As a result of this role, Bren is the main contact for all clients and suppliers relating to invoices.
Prior to working with BarrettClark Executive Search, Bren spent 15 years with an Exhibition company in the electrical industry as their company accountant and 10 years doing a similar role with a plastic moulding company. She also had a role for a few years managing accounts and as a PA to the directors of a Rubber Band company! Bren’s original training was in the Civil Service in the Royal Navy Accounts division.
Matt is a Partner and has developed his expertise in the FMCG & Consumer Products industry advising Blue Chip, SME and Start Up organisations to structure commercial teams and attract outstanding talent for sales, marketing and commercial roles. Matt is highly focused and committed taking each mandate he works on personally – he prides himself in being a client ambassador and orchestrating smooth, efficient and effective delivery of searches. Matt works closely with Marc Kramers to co-ordinate our work in Consumer Goods.
According to Gallup Matt’s key strength is as an “Achiever”. This is an executing strength and leaders that are dominant in this area make things happen. When you need someone to implement a solution Matt would be the one to work tirelessly to get it done. With this strength he has the ability to catch an idea and make it a reality – which in Executive Search terms means he gets results.
Matt lives in Hampshire and when he is not coaching or playing with his kids he is either watching/playing sport or training for some challenge or other!
Lee has a degree in philosophy – the study of knowledge, reality and existence – and is also part qualified in Finance. Lee has a business background in management and business development in the travel sector and is developing our Finance practice. He advises media and fintech clients as well as companies across our wider consumer portfolio. Lee has specialist experience working with rapidly growing or start-up business that are often moving through funding rounds. Lee focuses on searches in financial leadership and in particular Chief Financial Officer, Finance Director and their key reports. Recent searches have included Finance Director for a well-known American company that provides shared work spaces, Head of FP&A with an international peer-to-peer lender and a Group Financial Controller for a global private jet operator aka the “Uber of Private jets”.
Lee is driven and focused on goals in everything he does and uses these strengths to maximise his client relationships and achieve the best, most efficient outcomes in the searches he undertakes.
Outside of work Lee splits his time between his home in Putney, traveling, private investing and a wide variety of exercise including golf, Brazilian Ju Jitsu, the gym and yoga.
